SPOTIFY IS SELLING MAKEUP ON ARTIST PAGES

Music platform Spotify has a small side business selling artist t-shirts and posters but is broadening its merchandise sales platform to include makeup. The brand is pairing makeup artist Pat McGrath with singer Maggie Lindemann to release the “So Obsessed” makeup collection, which will be sold directly from Lindemann’s Spotify artist page. The line was launched in mid-November with the release of a new single, aptly titled “Obsessed.” The partnership will allow McGrath to reach a new audience, while allowing Lindemann’s fans to instantly shop her makeup style. The move helps up-and-coming artists open another revenue opportunity beyond their streaming music.

COCA-COLA BOOSTS ITS DIGITAL SHOPPER PRESENCE

Coca-Cola is quietly making inroads in the digital shopping space as more shoppers move to loading virtual shopping carts versus real ones. For home delivery options, they’ve partnered with meal delivery service Chef’d to include beverage pairings and are integrating into Amazon Echo to suggest a beverage at the end of food delivery orders. For shoppers using click-and-collect options, Coke is working with partners to push impulse drink suggestions as the shoppers near their designated pickup location.

FACEBOOK PLANS TO BUILD ITS OWN VILLAGE

A recent survey found that 63% of those 21 to 34 years old believe that work culture is becoming like college culture. With that in mind, Facebook is planning to expand their corporate campus to include 1,500 housing units as well as retail stores, transportation services and other amenities that will eventually make their location feel like a college campus. This new complex will provide much-needed affordable housing for employees and greatly reduce traffic/congestion in the area with so many living and working in the same location. Google and IKEA are both planning much smaller scale on-campus housing options for their corporate employees as well.
