OREO ENTERS THE SUBSCRIPTION BOX MARKET
Oreo is getting in on the subscription box trend with their new Cookie Club boxes, available exclusively through Amazon. For $20 per month, subscribers will get a box shipped to their house with two full-size packages of cookies (classic and new flavors), a recipe card for something Oreo related and a secret Oreo-themed gift. A few years ago, we saw Oreo try a limited run direct-to-consumer holiday promotion; this feels like a little longer-term evolution for bypassing retailers and getting product directly into consumers’ homes.

NETFLIX CREATES A BIZARRE BIOTECH BOOTH AT CES
The Psychasec biotech booth at last week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was a big hit, drawing in many curious attendees to learn more about the company’s cutting-edge science and technology behind transferring our conscious to a new, better body. Booth attendants rapidly collected email addresses with the promise of more information being made available on February 2. Coincidentally, Netflix’s new original series Altered Carbon debuts on the same day and uses the technology developed by Psychasec. A pretty interesting tactic for creating buzz around a new show by sneaking a fake biotech booth into CES.

PIZZA HUT & TOYOTA SHOW OFF AUTONOMOUS PIZZA DELIVERY CAR
In the less distant future category at the Consumer Electronics Show, Pizza Hut and Toyota unveiled the e-Palette, an autonomous concept vehicle that may one day replace traditional delivery drivers. The vehicle can also be equipped with an oven to cook pizzas as it heads toward its destination, making delivery times much shorter. Toyota plans to start testing the vehicle by 2020 and intends other applications for its use as well.
