PIZZA HUT’S PIZZA-ORDERING PIE TOPS RETURN WITH NEW FEATURES
During last year’s March Madness, Pizza Hut introduced Pie Tops, a limited-edition basketball shoe that let the wearer order pizza by pushing a button on the shoe. This year’s Pie Tops II have arrived with the added capability of pausing the TV when the pizza is delivered. The shoes need to pair with an app on the user’s smartphone in order to function properly.

GUMDROP GIVES UK A NEW RECYLCING PROGRAM TO CHEW ON
With the insight that it costs £150 million per year to clean chewing gum waste from city streets, UK-based Gumdrop has developed a gum recycling program called Gum-tec. The company manufactures round, pink receptacles that are mounted around public streets. Once full of chewed gum, Gumdrop’s technology is used to create a new sustainable compound for use in the rubber and plastic industries. ROBOT BEES ARE ALL THE BUZZ AT WALMART
As natural honey bee populations are rapidly dwindling, Walmart has filed a patent for autonomous “pollination drones,” also known as robot bees. While not a lot of information is currently available, these robot bees would likely be used for crop pollination, in turn helping Walmart keep its grocery business humming along. Additionally, Walmart filed five other patents related to farming, which could be an indication that the retailer plans to take tighter control of its food supply chain by expanding into the farming industry. Either way, it will be an interesting development to watch as robot bees take flight.
