GUMDROP CREATES SNEAKERS WITH RECYCLED GUM

Earlier this year we reported on Gumdrop, an Amsterdam-based company who places gum recycling stations around city streets to keep used chewing gum off the ground. The company has now partnered with Explicit, a fashion brand, to create the Gumshoe—"the first sneaker made from recycled gum.” Gumdrop uses its patented process to break down the used gum into a reusable rubber that becomes the sole of the shoes. The soles, which have a slight gum smell, are as durable as traditional rubber soles, and it only takes half a pound of gum to create each sole.

7-Eleven has launched its first augmented reality in-store experience in partnership with the launch of Marvel’s new Deadpool 2 movie. The app offers experiences that include Deadpool guiding shoppers through the store and unlocking various activities, as well as a selfie mode. Shoppers will also be able to earn app bonus points and sweepstakes chances for trips and movie tickets. To stay fresh, the Deadpool experience will change every week.

FOOD DELIVERY HEADS TO THE AIR WITH UBER DRONES

Uber Eats claims to be the largest food delivery service in the world. Now they may become the fastest food delivery service in the world with the greenlight to test food drone delivery in several cities, including San Diego. Uber’s CEO claims they will be able to make food deliveries within five minutes by drone, versus 30 minutes by vehicle. This is a big bet and interesting opportunity for a company based on offering mobility solutions to urban areas.
