XBOX POWERS UP THROUGH SCENT
In Australia, Xbox is extending its brand through an interesting partnership with personal care brand Lynx to create a line of products that includes shower gel, body spray and deodorant. The fresh Lynx Xbox scent will be a “pulsing green citrus, featuring top notes of kaffir lime and winter lemon, aromatic herbal middle notes of mint and sage, and woody bottom notes of patchouli and clearwood.” The brand says the new products will help gamers to power up before they leave their house.
DSW BRINGS NEW EXPERIENCES TO SHOPPERS
It’s well known that millennials and young shoppers are looking for retail shopping experiences to keep them engaged. With this in mind, shoe retailer DSW is testing in-store manicure, pedicure and waxing services, as well as some wine and beer offerings. DSW’s internal research shows that nearly 25% of shoppers at their experiential stores will purchase shoes and will spend 60% more than shoppers in non-experiential stores.
COCA-COLA ASKS YOU TO CREATE NEW FLAVORS
Noticing a fan trend, Coca-Cola is running the #MakeYourMixContest for those who mix flavors while using one of the brand’s 50,000 Freestyle machines. Freestyle fans—who have been mixing flavors and posting the results on their social media feeds for some time—can now enter for a chance to win $10,000 by posting a photo and description of their creation, along with the contest hashtag. Five finalists will have their creations added to Freestyle machines, where consumers will be able to sample and then vote for their favorite throughout the summer. According to Coca-Cola, they wanted to reward their consumers for something they’ve already been doing: “being creative, experimenting and mixing the brands they love.”
