GOOGLE GETS INTO MOBILE VIDEO SHOPPING
Google is introducing Shoploop, a new video shopping platform. Shoppers will be able to watch short videos—less than 90 seconds—to discover a range of products and access reviews from other purchasers. They can then save the products to buy later or make immediate purchases directly from merchants’ websites. As Shoploop launches, Google will focus first on beauty merchants and add other product categories later.
YAHOO USERS CAN ORDER GROCERIES FROM THEIR INBOX
In an industry first, shoppers can now fill their online Walmart shopping cart directly from their email, thanks to Verizon Media’s Groceries from Walmart service, which allows Yahoo Mail users to browse, add to cart and buy essential groceries right from their Yahoo Mail account. Shoppers will also get personalized grocery recommendations based on their Yahoo profile. Plus, their cart will not ever expire, so they can add to it until they are ready to buy.
PUBLIX HAS A NEW MEAL DELIVERY PARTNER
Grocery delivery service Instacart has partnered with Publix Super Markets to provide Instacart Meals, “a new solution for online ordering, delivery and pickup of made-to-order food.” This new service plugs into Publix’s existing digital deli offering and allows Instacart Meals to offer all available discounts, coupons and savings when a customer places a deli sub order that will be available for home delivery or curbside pickup. Since its launch, customers have purchased enough subs to stretch “the length of 758 football fields.”
