DRIFT OFF TO SLEEP WITH PEPSICO’S DRIFTWELL
As the pandemic takes its toll on consumers’ mental health and disrupts sleep routines, dentists and doctors are seeing an increase in both cracked teeth and insomnia. To help combat this growing problem, PepsiCo will soon be introducing Driftwell as a new health and wellness drink designed to aid users in relaxing and unwinding before bedtime, hopefully leading to a more restful sleep. “The enhanced water drink contains 200 milligrams of L-theanine,” which, according to research, “can improve sleep quality and help reduce the physical symptoms of stress.” Driftwell will be available for purchase in December.
STEER CLEAR OF COVID HOT SPOTS WITH GOOGLE MAPS
The next iteration of Google Maps will include a color-coded COVID-19 overlay that communicates “seven-day averages of new cases per 100,000 in that area.” Additionally, the overlay will include “a general indication of whether or not local incidence is trending upwards or downwards” in the selected area. Google says information for the overlay is being pulled from various sources that include The New York Times and Johns Hopkins University, as well as Wikipedia; the information will be available at the county level.
STYLE UP YOUR PPE EYEWEAR WITH STOGGLES
While a lot of COVID-19 personal protection equipment (PPE) has been focused on masks, start-up Stoggles is coming to market with a focus on eye protection. Stoggles research shows that consumers inadvertently touch their eyes an average of 100 times per day. Prescription-friendly Stoggles have finger-blocking shields—made from the same material as the lenses—on the top and sides of the frames. In addition to being impact resistant, Stoggles can be fitted with anti-fog lenses, which are helpful when wearing a mask. Stoggles hit the market this month with two shapes and seven colors to choose from.
