GILLETTE VENUS & COTTONELLE GET INTO GAMING
We’ve reported before on how Animal Crossing is a great way for brands to play—and now two more brands are getting in on the action. Gillette Venus played up its Summer Skinclusive line by letting gamers update their player avatars with eight different skin tones, 19 skin types and hundreds of different marks, blemishes, tattoos and other customizations. Cottonelle partnered with T-Pain to let players design virtual bathrooms using digital brand patterns. With more than 26 million copies sold, marketers have an ever-growing audience to engage with in Animal Crossing.
WALMART’S BLACK FRIDAY COMES IN THREES
Walmart changed up its Black Friday plans this year in light of COVID-19. Instead of the traditional post-Thanksgiving Day sale, Walmart is introducing three chances to get deals. The three events—one which occurred earlier this month—have online deals followed by in-store promotions on toys, electronics, apparel, home goods and more. But be sure to check the events because each has its own special offerings and savings. Three times the Black Friday deals from Walmart is much needed this year.
AMAZON LOOKS TO HAVE A BIG HOLIDAY
With a pandemic still seizing normal in-store shopping opportunities, the majority of shoppers are going to be purchasing online this holiday season. A new study by Episerver, which surveyed more than 4,050 shoppers, found that two-thirds plan to buy online this year. With Amazon being one of the biggest players in the online marketplace, it was revealed that over 50% plan to do their shopping on Amazon and 42% plan to buy a majority of their gifts on the site.
