WALMART TAKES TO THE SKIES WITH DRONES
Partnering with Intel, Walmart is looking to wow customers with a 1,000-drone holiday show touring the U.S. this month. Doubling down on the contactless customer experience, this show is free for people to watch from their cars in eight cities from coast to coast. Previous experiences include Halloween and summer drive-in theater events that we reported on in past Breakthru Browsers. This event will also be broadcast on December 5 for those who can’t make the live show. What a way to end the year!
CHEETOS COOKS UP SURPRISE HOLIDAY RECIPES
Cheetos released a holiday cookbook filled with chef-inspired cuisine that introduces a lot more cheesiness into traditional seasonal recipes. This on-brand cookbook includes Dangerously Cheesy Mac’n’Cheetos, Flamin’ Hot Tamales, Mashed Paw-Tatoes and more cheesy goodness. It’s already sold out at this point, but the way people got their paws on this book was through a $35 minimum donation on the Cheetos website for World Central Kitchen and #ChefsofAmerica COVID-19 Relief.
GAMESTOP TRANSFORMS STORE VISITS THANKS TO POKÉMON GO
Gamers get to double up on gaming when they walk into GameStop this holiday season—with a little help from Niantic’s Pokémon Go, which gets gamers to search for AR Pokémon in and around the store, leading to more consumers already interested in gaming spending more time at GameStop. This partnership “looks to drive foot traffic” and boost sales for GameStop, while at the same time helping Niantic create more interactive, “location-based AR experiences” for its players.
