Heinz rolls out a hot dog pact
It’s a struggle as old as time: hot dogs and buns are sold in different-sized packages. Heinz has decided it’s time to bring the nonsense to an end with the launch of HeinzHotDogPact.com. To coincide with National Hot Dog Month, the brand created a campaign and petition calling on hot dog and bun companies to sell in equally numbered packs. The effort seeks to build on brand equity while also building a database of first-party consumer data.
Bloomingdale’s unveils Bloomie’s concept store
Bloomingdale’s has co-opted the affectionate nickname used to refer to loyal customers as the name for its new concept store in Virginia. The highly curated concept—with a significantly smaller footprint than normal Bloomingdale’s locations—will include call buttons in the changing rooms for shoppers to push when in need of assistance, a front-of-store dropbox for returns, and an order-pickup counter. Plus, in-store stylists will be able to access products from other Bloomingdale’s locations as well as the company’s website.
Fresh bakeries returning to supermarkets
As COVID-19 vaccinations continue to rise, one of the hardest-hit supermarket segments is poised for a big recovery. However, after seeing year-over-year growth of 11% within the segment in March, analysts believe in-store bakeries will continue to grow throughout the summer.
