Home Depot teams with Walmart for delivery
Back in August, Walmart launched GoLocal to offer last-mile delivery services to other retailers. Home Depot is now the service’s first customer, with same-day and next-day delivery services planned to be rolled out nationwide before the end of the year. The new delivery capability helps enhance Home Depot’s digital offerings while allowing Walmart to further itself as a multiservice provider.
Circle K pilots cashierless checkout
Convenience-store chain Circle K has retrofitted a location in Tempe, Arizona, to offer cashierless checkout. The retailer partnered with Standard AI to mount cameras in “strategic locations throughout the store” and identify the products that customers pick up. Shoppers are charged through their Circle K app, which saves them time at checkout and also allows associates to focus on store management and customer service.
General Mills introduces “homegating”
For its college football program, Tailgate Nation, General Mills has launched an online portal for fans who wish to host game-day watch parties but might not be ready to brave crowded stadiums. Users can view recipes, watch videos, and even shop General Mills brands on the site. The packaged foods company also partnered with Meijer to bring the experience to life in-store and give shoppers the chance to win $50 to spend on Fanatics.com.
