Coors Light removing plastic rings

In a move focused on sustainability, Molson Coors is shifting to recyclable cardboard carriers in North America by the end of 2025. To celebrate the announcement, Coors Light opened Plastic-Free Future Mart, a pop-up experience, in New York earlier this month. To highlight the 1.7 million pounds of plastic that the company says will be saved annually, the store was put together using brewery scraps alongside other “plastic-free and fully recyclable materials.”

Instacart adding in-store navigation

Food delivery service Instacart recently announced an in-store navigation rollout to help gig workers more easily find products on store shelves. The tool is currently being piloted across 80 stores with plans to add more locations “over time.” Other features include a more intuitive shopping list, live phone support, and enhanced safety components. The updates aim to improve the overall experience for Instacart’s 600,000+ gig workers as well as the end-customers they service.

Driscoll’s opening indoor strawberry farm

Driscoll’s, which sells roughly one-third of the North American berry market, has partnered with indoor agriculture company Plenty to open a dedicated vertical strawberry farm. The farm will supply customers in dense, urban areas throughout the Northeast with fresh strawberries. By using Plenty’s indoor farming techniques, Driscoll’s has the potential to increase output a massive 150 to 350 times per acre. Plenty can learn from Driscoll’s plant genetic expertise as the indoor vertical farming market takes off.
