QuikTrip is opening first cashierless checkout store

Convenience chain QuikTrip has opened a new location featuring Just Walk Out technology licensed from Amazon. The Tulsa store, a no-fuel location, allows shoppers to insert a credit card at entry and be charged upon their exit for the items taken. The machine-learning technology is designed to save time for shoppers who don’t want to wait in line, and since rolling out exclusively in Amazon Go stores, has expanded to third-party licensees.

ALDI is letting a lucky bride walk down its aisle

Grocery chain ALDI aims to create a magical day for the couple who wins its Happily Ever ALDI contest. The winning couple will be wed by an ALDI employee in the aisles of an ALDI model store in Batavia, Illinois. The couple and up to 50 guests will receive a store-front photo shoot and a reception featuring ALDI-themed cocktails and wedding favors. The newlyweds will get more than just a wedding though, as ALDI will provide them with free groceries for a year.
